floating library

I'm grateful to live in a state that is full of such innovative, creative people.  Sarah Peters, who taught this class I took at MCBA, put together a floating library, a raft of handmade books and little tomes, put onto the lake earlier in August.  This actually occurred the same weekend we hustled up to the Itasca area for the retreat, so I missed this year's floating library, but I hope to bring Gertrude (indeed, I named our canoe) out for a spin and a perusal of some fine books.

(You can see a copy of The Recent History of Middle Sand Lake below.  I will admit to a little squeal when I saw it.)

The above photo is a friend-of-a-friend (and talented yarn spinner, natural dyer, and knitter, so I drool over her Instagram feed) reading a copy of City of Bears.  Also, squeal.  Who wouldn't want to see her poetry being read on a kayak?  This might be one of my favorite poetry-moments, and sadly, I wasn't even there to witness it.

Thanks to Sarah for most of these photos and Pamela for the last.

I'd love to read your poetry on a kayak.
