poetry reading: dislocate's mama fundraiser

This was one of the more unique readings I've participated in:  this time, the literary magazine dislocate (for which I served as poetry editor two years ago), hosted a fundraiser for the campus parenting group.  Kate Hopper read, as did current MFA Elisabeth Workman (hers is the girl, Beatrix, behind Maya in the photograph above).  There was a pinata, there were cupcakes and pizza, animal noses and coloring books.  And the three girls in attendance shrieked and chased one another (or rather, imagined themselves being chased as I don't think they are quite beyond center-of-the-universe status) whilst poetry and prose were being read, and it was delightful to pause between (in)fertility poems to see my little bear jotting up and down the aisles.
